8 Epic-ED related items for you to be aware of this week! Please continue to reach out with questions on the system, workflows/elements that may be broken/confusing so we can get them taken care of rapidly – the ED team as a whole has been amazing with speaking up so keep it coming!

  1. Admission workflow for Surgical/Neuro patients: If our consulting services who see patients in the ED have placed their admission orders before the ED provider has an opportunity to place a Bed Request, that admission order will generate a Bed Request automatically. So, if you see an automatic Patient Status change to Yellow, it is because the admission orders are in…   and when bed is assigned, will flip to
  2. After Visit Summary – sensitive labs (STI testing, urine drug screen, pregnancy testing) will all be excluded from the After Visit Summary. This does NOT apply to diagnoses … example: a patient being diagnosed with chlamydia   would recommend selecting ‘dysuria’ as diagnosis with their urine testing for chlamydia wiped from the after visit summary that is handed to the caregiver.
  3. Asthma Order Set Update – thanks to suggestions from our asthma SMEs, the ED Asthma orderset has been adjusted to be more user-friendly. Please utilize for all your asthma needs / always at the top of the Order Sets

  1. Metabolism Panel Update – our metabolism colleagues have helped update our ED Panels, found under ‘ED Metabolism’ but within the Quick Order panels on the Orders activity tab, front-facing if needed

  1. Not seeing a co-signer drop-down option at the top your note? Have the trainee/APP share the note, becoming the author, and re-open and it will appear! (working on more elegant solution)
  2. Progress on Expired Patient workflows… more to come from our SMEs once completed but steps to mirror our checklist/new workflows underway… you will start to see in the system heaven forbid it is required but full education to-come once all live

  1. Home medications that are due in 4 hours – have made some optimizations to make this alert more robust so look for the identifier  – If you see this icon, home medications are due/overdue from time of triage!
  2. If you are receiving deficiencies in your In Basket for ‘Consult Completion’ for consult orders you may have placed, these were routed to you inappropriately by HIM and do not worry about them for now…

Thanks for getting to the bottom of this email! Email with any questions/concerns/all the things
