A few quick items this week!
Keep sending your ideas to @EDclinicalapps-dl please!
Scroll for a few items related to admission workflow, expanded prescription writing options, a JCAHO requirement …😉.
- To remind providers not to place bed request for patients who already have an admission order placed (surgical/neuro services), you will now see the following soft stop when attempting to place a Bed Request. If however, the patient’s admitting service is truly changing (now requiring ICP or ICU when initially billed as Neuro floor), you can still place this order.
- Now Prescription Writing in the Dispo tab will always be available prior to selection of Disposition status. Will allow you to prepare for discharge earlier in the course to allow prescription preparation at the outside pharmacy or ordering of ED Take Home Medications (under before the patient is Ready to Go!
- Unlike Cerner, Epic does not allow auto-ordering of ‘place IV if needed’ (and JCAHO-mandated to have order placed), so all order sets and order panels have a ED Venous Access Protocol order. Nursing can also order this w/ your co-signature. It is also conveniently located in your Quick Orders under Quick Meds as so –
- You can now see weight percentiles in our storyboard. We are working on weight alerts for newly entered weights that are significantly out of range to protect against weight errors – stay tuned.
Thanks for reading! Email with questions or concerns, as always –
