Hey everyone!
As spring arrives, new IT projects are coming to fruition! Some things to keep an eye out on and some updates! As always, please read. I’ll bold the bullet points.
1) Triage Screener form – The RNs have begun doing their triage screening electronically. Gone are the days of the paper in the binder that would have the chief complaint and weight. This will help their workflow but it helps everyone in the back as well.
- The screener ESI will be visible in the usual colored column, giving everyone a better sense of what is in the waiting room
- A brief history narrative will appear in the chief complaint column, giving some more info than just the EPIC registration complaint
Think of the busy days when there were many in the WR still awaiting triage so the only info was the EPIC complaint with no other details. Now we will be able to look at the WR and have a better clinical sense of what is out there.
Since this is just a screen, the ‘magenta’ (Auto) Triage Needed description in the far right won’t change until the true triage form is complete. When that column changes to ‘Eval in Progress’ you will know the complete triage has been done. Also, the triage nurse can update the ESI if they feel the quick screen score needs modification.
This is a big win all around!
2) Hallway beds
5 more hallway beds have been added!
The clinical operations team will formally number the places formerly known as ‘outside room 46’, ‘next to hallway 9’, etc. But now we will be able to place the patients in those spots.
3) Emergency Information Form (EIF)
CCS will begin filling out an EIF document on some patients providing very important information (tube sizes, usual dispo/admission site, etc) to help streamline care.
This form will be flagged a critical note and so that icon (as seen above) will flag for the patient, notifying you to peek for it. This is a new initiative so these will slowly become more visible. Thanks to Dr. Lyons for spear-heading this.
And now some updates, teases:
A) An .edatt-death-notifications dot phrase is available to help make sure we document appropriately
B) A dot phrase is going to be available very soon to help document all aspects of a sexual assault evaluation .edsexualassault
C) The ‘dithered diagnosis field’ issue has a fix ready to be implemented. I am working out the timing of this. More to come.
Always forward!
Your friendly neighborhood CHAMPS guy,
AJC
