Mosaic Tips 11/13 – sedation instructions, smartsets, adding yourself to care team

ASAP Weekly Update 🚑   Just some Epic updates for awareness and reminders for your efficiency/make your lives a bit easier

  1. Joint Commission came, you may have heard… Just a reminder to include Sedation Discharge instructions for all your sedations. Can search Sedation, Procedural. We are working to have the system better suggest this to you in the future for all patients undergoing moderate sedation …
  2. Attending Sign Up on Board @ Shift Change– Epic is hard-coded that there can only be one attending of record at one time on the board. To allow the oncoming attending to sign up for patient and indicate to all team members they are the responding attending BUT not lose them off your list of patients you need to finish charting:

This will NOT add a task to your In Basket. You can make a reminder/note to yourself for any patient by clicking at the top of Epic  which basically sends yourself a note to your In Basket – helpful for follow-up too/want to call the family etc.

 

  1. Marked for Merge: In cases where a new patient record/MRN has been created in error/required to be generated to prevent delays in registration, two charts are marked for merge in the system for HIM to address ASAP. This is visible to you from the storyboard in BOTH charts, allowing a link to the other record to review while the merge is in process.  Just click on the Red Marked for Merge banner bar to flip between records if needed.

  1. Discharge Smartsets reminder – on the top of your Dispo activity tab, there is a box called “Smartsets”. These have been created to streamline the discharge process, suggest the appropriate prescription sentences based on diagnosis, and pull in /suggest instructions or follow-ups. Some will be suggested based on chief complaint – for example, a patient with CC of cough suggests below:

All available sets for now listed below: working on Mental Health, sedation, etc so any ideas/feedback are welcome

  1. Asthma HASS – looking for RN’s documentation of a HASS score? Want to input one yourself? All documented HASS scores will flow to the ‘Scoring Tools’ activity tab. Nursing enters from their scoring tools on their Narrator. It also automatically pulls into the template of our Provider Notes.
